Internships have become the new job requirement. While employers value higher education, they also want students to have critical thinking skills, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
The NYIE—a combination of work and study—supports a cohort of University of Mississippi students each summer term so they may gain professional experience in their fields of study. Unfortunately, this opportunity can be an undue financial burden for many students and their families and can even become a barrier to participation at all.
To that end, the Division of Outreach Office of College Programs at The University of Mississippi seeks to raise $25,000 in order to establish an endowment to support exceptional students’ participation in the New York Internship Experience. The ultimate goal is for the annual income generated from this endowment to provide generous scholarships to 10 UM students each summer to help bring the cost of the NYIE program in line with the summer cost of attendance on the Oxford campus. We need your help to raise this initial seed money which will benefit University of Mississippi students interested in broadening their professional and personal perspectives through a summer internship in New York.
The future of Mississippi hinges on a well-educated and career-prepared workforce. We need your help to offer this extraordinary life-shaping experience to University of Mississippi students. Please consider joining our efforts by making a gift to the NYIE Endowment Fund.
