Data Security Notice

The Foundation recently received notice from Blackbaud Corporation that they were the victim of a data security incident in May 2020. Blackbaud is one of the world’s leading software companies and the host of our general ledger package in a cloud environment.

Upon its discovery of the incident, Blackbaud, with the assistance of independent digital forensics experts and law enforcement, conducted an investigation and issued the following findings. “Based on the nature of the incident, our research, and third party (including law enforcement) investigation, we have no reason to believe that any data went beyond the cybercriminal, was or will be misused; or will be disseminated or otherwise made available publicly. We have hired a third-party team of experts to monitor the dark web as an extra precautionary measure.

There was no unauthorized access into our donor database hosted on Foundation systems and no donors’ social security numbers, credit card numbers, addresses, or biographical information were part of the data security breach.

The Foundation will continue to work diligently with Blackbaud to assess any further risk to our data and notify you of any developments that warrant concern.

Thank you for your support of the University of Mississippi.
